Music

Whether it's playing the air guitar to an 80s rock classic or line dancing to the latest country hit, Music is everywhere. It pours out of radios, speakers and voices for everyone to enjoy.

That is exactly what we plan to do with music at Dale Hall... make it enjoyable!

We love celebrating musical talent at Dale Hall and asking the children to share their experiences.

At Dale Hall, we aim to inspire creativity to enable children to have a life long love of music. We focus on developing the skills, knowledge and understanding that children need in order to become confident performers, composers and listeners.

We encourage children to develop music skills of singing, playing tuned and untuned instruments as well as  listening and responding to music. We believe that being creative contributes to the overall well-being and happiness of our children so we aim to include musical elements in many areas of our curriculum, such as responding to music in Art lessons or a song learnt in a Geography lesson.

It is important to us to ensure the children at Dale Hall understand the value and importance of music in the wider community too, and are able to use their musical skills and experiences to enjoy and involve themselves in music, in a variety of different contexts.

Year 4 have been lucky enough to have Mr Whitman and Mrs Burgess from Suffolk County Music Service, to come in and teach them the flute and violin. The children work as a class ensemble throughout the year, where they learn how to read music, take part in group singing and learn how to compose short pieces of music using the flute or violin. At the end of the year, the children collaborate with other schools around Suffolk to take part in the WECT Music Festival, where parents are invited to celebrate their child's fantastic achievement in music.
