British Values Statement
At Dale Hall CP School we value the diverse backgrounds of all pupils and families and our school ethos, supported by a variety of events and lessons, celebrate these. This approach is enriching for all parties as it exemplifies the fundamental British Values of ‘democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs’ (Ofsted 2014).
The ways in which the school supports fundamental British values include:
- daily assemblies linked to a theme
- seeking pupils’ views on behaviour and class rules
- having an active School Council
- through our Curriculum eg covering subjects such Racism, Inspirational People, Children’s Rights, Poverty and Wealth and Justice
- celebrating success through Achievement Assemblies, Display Boards and SHARE afternoons
- helping pupils to develop a ‘Growth Mindset’ with key learning powers
- helping pupils to develop independent thought
- providing pupils with roles and responsibilities
- whole school celebrations eg the Olympics, the Golden Jubilee and European Languages Day
- raising money for a range of charities such as Macmillan, EACH, British Legion, Shine and NSPCC
